Publications are an important element of DELGOSEA’s holistic approach to sustainability, and the project team is delighted to announce the availability of a ‘Handbook of Best Practice Replications’ to complement the existing brochures, guides and leaflets.

The aim of this new handbook is to provide a coherent and easy to understand guide for the replication of best practices in the local governance sector. It is, therefore, focusing on tools and activities that are transferrable and can be used in any setting. Without concentrating on individual cities, it is offering a detailed step-by-step account of how to approach such replication and all the issues that need to be considered along the way.

Replication is a holistic process – a concept that is reflected in the way the guide encompasses all stages of the replication, starting with the preparations long before the actual start of the project and ending in the explanation of sustainability after all activities are done and the initial results achieved.

The handbook is grouped into three topics:preparations, replication, andenabling environment. All these topics contain subcategories. While the second topic discusses the actual replication process and monitoring, the other two form the framework of a successful best practice replication: preparations and sustainability.

All the steps and tools described here have been applied in the process of the DELGOSEA project – it would be fair to say that the handbook functions as a kind of institutional memory of best practice exchange. All 16 pilot cities, which implemented best practices from different countries under the DELGOSEA umbrella, followed these step-by-step instructions; their experiences provided feedback on how to fine-tune and perfect such guidelines.

It is through publication such as this one that the DELGOSEA spirit will continue to inspire cities across Southeast Asia to continue learning from and cooperating with each other.

This handbook, as well as all the other publications, is available from DELGOSEA’s communication office: Communications-Office@delgosea.eu
