Reviving Old Cultural Tradition in Misamis Oriental

Reviving Old Cultural Tradition in Misamis Oriental

The wedding of Vice-Mayor Mildred Lagbas (now Mondigo) of Sugbongcogon, Misamis Oriental qualifies as the first wedding in the DELGOSEA framework!

The ManLuNa and BinKiSu cluster of Misamis Oriental are currently replicating the ‘Preserving Old Town Architecture and Reviving Traditions as Tourist Attraction and Economic Driver’ best practice from Phuket in Thailand. Part of the replication process was a study visit from Misamis Oriental in the Philippines to Phuket in Thailand where the delegation got firsthand experience of the best practice which is going to be implemented in their home town.

Obviously deeply impressed by the best practice, Vice-Mayor Lagbas not only supported the implementation of the best practice in the pilot city Misamis Oriental but also adapted her own wedding. Inspired by reviving old wedding traditions, her wedding followed a traditional Philippine wedding style. Part of which included a ride in a horse-drawn carriage of the newlyweds from the church to the reception venue.

DELGOSEA congratulates the Lagbas-Mondigo Couple!
