6/8/2012 DELGOSEA Final Conference: The Journey Towards Democratic Local Governance Continues
The DELGOSEA network is calling for a more permanent dialogue on decentralization and local governance to be established between ASEAN member states and for expanded collaboration with local authorities (LAs), as well as civil society, in a multi-stakeholder approach. The importance of regional cooperation on local governance with the aim of securing better living conditions for the people of Southeast Asia has been recognised by ASEAN and support for a joint approach by the member states is growing.

Policy makers and civil society from eight ASEAN countries came together yesterday and today (3/5 and 4/5) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia to strengthen regional cooperation at the local level. The focus is on good local governance for better Disaster Risk Management of Climate Change Challenges, as well as on Financing Urban Economic and Infrastructure Development Programmes.

Cambodian policy makers and civil society came together yesterday and today (2-3 May 2012) in Phnom Penh to discuss best practice replication in local governance. The event is part of a series of workshop organised by DELGOSEA – a regional project supporting best practice exchange in local governance – implemented by Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. The workshops in Manila (The Philippines), Jakarta (Indonesia), Bangkok (Thailand) and Hanoi (Vietnam) were held between March and April 2012.

Vietnamese policy makers and representatives from civil society organisations came together today (27/4) in Hanoi to discuss best practice replication in local governance. The event is part of a series of seminars organised by DELGOSEA – a regional project supporting best practice exchange in local governance – implemented by Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. The seminars in Manila (The Philippines), Jakarta (Indonesia), Bangkok (Thailand) and Hanoi (Vietnam) were held between March and April 2012.

The event is part of a series of workshop organised by DELGOSEA – a regional project supporting best practice exchange in local governance. The workshop in Hanoi (Vietnam) will be conducted on 27 April 2012. In Manila (The Philippines) and Jakarta (Indonesia), the workshops were held on 29 March and 17 April, respectively.

The workshops in Bangkok (Thailand) and Hanoi (Vietnam) will be conducted on 19 and 27 April, respectively. In Manila (The Philippines), the workshop was held on 29 March 2012.
29/3/2012 National Workshop on Policy Recommendations and Networking in the Philippines
On Wednesday, 29 March 2012, DELGOSEA organizes a one-day national workshop in Manila on policy recommendations, sustainability and advocacy. The aim is to provide a forum for networking and information-sharing among the pilot LGUs/cities, namely, Alaminos City, Bacolod City and the ManLuNa (Manticao, Lugait, Naawan) and BinKiSU (Binaungan, Kinoguitan, Sugbongcogon) cluster of municipalities, Misamis Oriental in the Philippines, the DELGOSEA network and other stakeholders at national and regional level.
27/9/2011 DELGOSEA Midterm Review and Evaluation Conference
The third transnational conference of ‘Partnership for Democratic Local Governance in Southeast Asia (DELGOSEA)’, a regional project supporting best practice exchange in local governance, will be taking place in Batam, Indonesia, from 27 – 28 September 2011. It will be followed by a one-day training workshop on monitoring and evaluation. DELGOSEA is co-funded by the European Commission and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) of Germany through the German Ministry for Development Cooperation.

DELGOSEA, co-funded by the European Union and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) of Germany through the German Ministry for Development Cooperation, organizes a one-day national workshop on local governance best practices in Jakarta on May 11, 2011. Attendees are representatives from the National Development Planning Agency (BAPPENAS), Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Ministry of Public Works, Local Government Associations, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of National Education, the European Union Delegation, civil society organisations, and representatives from academia and media.

The workshop, intended as a sharing forum between local and national government stakeholders in strategizing the implementation of local governance best practices replication, is to be officially opened by Mr. Prai Pattano, the President of MLT.

DELGOSEA Team in Cambodia, in close collaboration with the National League of Commune/Sangkats (NLC/S), organizes a one-day workshop in Phnom Penh on April 26, 2011 with up to 40 local government stakeholders of Kampot and Choam Chao, officials of the Ministry of Interior, staff and advisors at the Secretariat of the National Committee for Sub-National Democratic Development (NCDDS), lecturers and students of various academic institutions and other concerned NGO/IOs as well as development partners to discuss and finalize DELGOSEA best practices’ transfer concept development.

DELGOSEA Team in Vietnam, in close collaboration with the Association of Cities in Vietnam (ACVN), organizes a one-day workshop in Hanoi on April 15, 2011 with up to 16 local government stakeholders from participating pilot cities: Danang, Vinh, and Tra Vinh to discuss and finalize DELGOSEA best practices’ (BP) transfer concept development. Lang Son – one of the host cities in Vietnam whose best practice on administrative reforms was selected by DELGOSEA, will also be taking part in the workshop.

The Partnership for Democratic Local Governance in Southeast Asia (DELGOSEA), in collaboration with local government association partners: Thailand Environment Institute (TEI) and Municipal League of Thailand (MLT), host a capacity development workshop for up to 60 local governance coaches from DELGOSEA partner countries of Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines starting November 18 -25, 2010 in Pattaya, Thailand.

The Partnership for Democratic Local Governance project or DELGOSEA has started preparing the transfer process of good governance best practices by formally engaging several municipal governments across partnering Southeast-Asian countries as pilot cities through the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) since July 2010.

The project “Partnership for Democratic Local Governance in Southeast-Asia” has officially started its activities. The project is co-funded by the European Commission and covering five countries in Southeast-Asia: Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
