At the annual meeting of the Municipal League of Thailand (MLT) Worawut Sornum, (DELGOSEA Thailand) took the opportunity and presented the 16 best practices on local governance to the more than 2,000 local government officials present.

Four pilot cities in Thailand, Pakkred, Songkla, Yala and Chiang Rai are currently replicating DELGOSEA best practices. MLT is one of the key stakeholders of DELGOSEA and as such, it is assisting the pilot cities in their replication process. Participation in the meeting aimed at increasing awareness for the best practices in order to extend the DELGOSEA activities beyond this network of local governance stakeholders.

MLT is one of the important players which will ensure sustainability beyond the lifetime of the project by integrating the best practices into the regular services for their members. The curiosity and interest of the delegates showed that an extension of best practice replication can be achieved even after the duration of the project.

The annual MLT meeting provides a forum for local government officials to share best practices experiences, dialogue with national government official on pressing issues, concerns, and policies affecting the provision of basic services to their constituencies. The meeting was held at Royal Jubilee Room, Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani on 15-16 June 2011.
