The Clean Saturday program in Wakatobi is so far well implemented. Every Saturday all schools, government offices, and communities allocate their time to clean the environment in their neighborhood.

On 2nd March 2012, Wakatobi Local Government conducted a socialization event of WASH/Wakatobi Clean program. The target groups were women’s groups, village leaders, and villages communities in Mola, South Wangi-Wangi. This event was particularly important for the members of women groups,  as it stressed on facilitation of household waste management. The same activity is being implementing  periodically as one of many ways to build community’s awareness of a clean environment.

On February 15, the Wakatobi Working Group conducted a meeting led by its chairman who is also the Head of Wakatobi Planning Agency. Mr. Abdul Manan stressed in this meeting on determining the location for the Waste Management Learning Center. The Working Group discussed preparations and procurement for the Center, training for the employers as well as technical details for the grease trap and the effective micro organisms. For the latter, DELGOSEA Indonesia and Thailand will facilitate the communication with the best practice from Muangklang Thailand in order to have Thai experts come over to Wakatobi and conduct capacity building. Around one week later, on February 24, members of the Working Group conducted a field visit to the proposed location of the Learning Center.
