The News

1. LGAs - Crucial Partners for DELGOSEAS's Future | This month: Introducing the Association of Cities in Vietnam

In its last project year, DELGOSEA is focusing on sustainability - how can the project results be preserved, who will continue with activities when the EU-funding comes to an end? The obvious candidates for guardians of the DELGOSEA spirit are the official project partners, the local government associations (LGAs) in the five project countries. Continuing the series on LGAs, we are this month introducing the Association of Cities in Vietnam (ACVN), DELGOSEA’s LGA partner in the country.

2. DELGOSEA Beneficiaries | This month: Councilor and Head of Committee on Social Development, Bacolod

In its last project year, DELGOSEA is focusing on the actual implementation of the best practices. Who is better placed to judge the impact and success of these replications than the people on the ground in the pilot cities? Representatives of the 16 pilot cities will share with us their views on what makes the replication successful as well as the challenges they are facing during the implementation. This month features Bacolod, one of our three Philippine pilot cities.

3. DELGOSEA meets ASEAN

Representatives from the Partnership for Democratic Local Governance in Southeast Asia (DELGOSEA), the United Cities and Local Governments in Asia Pacific (UCLG ASPAC) and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) met the Head of the ASEAN Community & Corporate Affairs Department.

4. Tarakan – the Indonesian Eco-Savers are Starting in Earnest

The moment has come at last: Tarakan, Indonesia, launched its ambitious environmental programme (TALING) with a series of kick-off events in a number of schools throughout the city, having spent the last few months setting up the framework for the project. Everybody involved is rearing to go and eager to make it a success!

5. DELGOSEA Presents Publications to ‘University Belt’ in Manila

DELGOSEA was able to make another step towards a closer cooperation with academia in Southeast Asia. A DELGOSEA book presentation was hosted in San Sebastian-Recoletos College, Manila, organized by Prof. Alfred Sureta, one of the DELGOSEA experts who provided valuable contributions to the DELGOSEA publications. The college is situated in the heart of Manila, surrounded by various other universities and educational institutions – the university belt.
