Description of LGA

ADKASI is the association of the regency council in Indonesia with 398 registered members.
Its objective is to establish effective regency legislative councils which promote good local governance to implement sustainable development within the framework of regional autonomy and democracy.

to empower regency legislative councils in implementing regional autonomy by conducting good governance.

to improve the capacity of its members, regional legislative councils, advocate for the roll out of relevant policies in line with the interest of regional people and councils, develop and provide information and communcations for members and the public, and expand networks to create synergies between regional legislative councils and other stakeholders to reinforce regional autonomy and local democracy.

ADKASI focuses its activities in the following four strategic issues:

  • capacity development for its members
  • advocacy on policies
  • networking development
  • development of organizational management

Besides these four strategic issues, ADKASI is also committed to ensure women’s representation in politics through activities such as capacity trainings for the councils’ female members, gender-based budgeting workshops, and establishment of caucus for  women’s regional legislative councils. 

To generate public awareness on ADKASI activities concerning regional and national policies, it produces and updates:  an e-newsletter –Mediadkasi, which can be downloaded from its website; books publishing; and series of talk show with TV Swara (local channel).
