Project Objectives

Initiators of the project set their sights on creating a network within Southeast Asia for the replication of success stories in local governance between cities and municipalities. In this regard, the best practices to be identified in “success places” should be possible to replicate in “pilot/replication places” without having to reinvent the wheel.

Specifically, the project aims to establish a sustainable network of local authorities, local government associations, non-state actors, and academic institutions for the exchange and transfer of best practices in democratic local governance in the region. The network’s work should also contribute to improving the knowledge, attitude, and practice of local government associations in this kind of service to their members.

Overall, the project intends to contribute to the improvement of living conditions of disadvantaged groups in Southeast Asia by helping increase their participation in local planning and decision-making.
