Songkhla, Thailand
Songkhla At A Glance
Like TraVinh in Vietnam, Songkhla in Southern Thailand has ambitious plans to introduce e-government to the city,in an effort to improve the efficiency of local government and to make routine administrative processes user-friendlier. The example for this came from Yogyakarta in Indonesia, where the award-winning scheme revolutionised the city’s services. Songkhla has made very good progress so far – the e-government system is being tested out and the task force of the city is currently reviewing people’s satisfaction with it. A questionnaire of more than 100 users of the new service showed a satisfaction of 84% - very encouraging. Training workshops for the council’s staff are continuing, with the aim of bringing more and more departments online.
